Project - Product Service System
The main purpose of this project was to develop a PSS (product service system) with a focus on sustainability where several different design strategies were desirable to use.
The winning concept became my idea of a module table that the customers can lease from a company. The service also includes that the customers can choose between 3 different materials (wood, plastic or glass) on the table tops and then change the design by switching plates when ever they want or replace the plates if some of them start to wear and tear.
The leasing company will then take back the plates and use them for other tables if they are in a good condition. Otherwise the plates are recycled and new ones are manufactured from that material. If the damage is small, the old plates are repaired and reused in new tables. The design strategies on which the solution is based are thus, design for remanufacture, reuse and recycle.
